"There is no sense in having half clean pans - they need to be impeccable."

Mark Heard, Head Chef, King Edward VII Hospital

King Edward VII Hospital in London has chosen Granuldisk for their kitchen - three times over.

Having replaced two previous installations of Granule Flexi models, the kitchen team headed by Mr. Mark Heard is now using the high-performing Granule Smart to handle the pot washing in the washroom.

This private independent, acute hospital - registered with the Healthcare Commission and recognized by Investors in People - offers the highest standards of medical excellence and the most modern equipment and facilities, combined with impeccable standards of care.

Excellent levels of cleanliness required

The patients of the 55 beds in use today, while the hospital is undergoing extensive refurbishment, as well as visitors and the staff are all offered 2-3 cooked meals a day, adding up to a total of around 300 meals per day. All prepared by the hospital's own kitchen.

Being a hospital, hygiene standards and requirements are especially high and not to be taken lightly. Every utensil and pan must be immaculate, absolutely hygienically clean.

“In this hospital hygiene is paramount. With Granuldisk, we know that there is an excellent level of cleanliness achieved, both visibly and hygienically" Mark Heard, Head Chef, King Edward VII Hospital.

Helps deal with sustainability

- Additionally, sustainability is of great importance to us. The reduction of detergent, energy, and water we enjoy with the Granuldisk system helps with this, Mark continues.

He adds that the positive effect it has on the working environment is also highly noticeable.

“With the improved working conditions, staff feel more looked after and are much happier. With less time spent washing dishes, they can now perform other tasks around the kitchen and avoid getting stuck with loads of heavy work".
